DrupalCampToronto - Friday, May 12

http://barcamp.org/DrupalCampToronto The aim of DrupalCampToronto is to educate and grow the community of people working with and working on Drupal code in Toronto. The day will include several workshops for newbies and advanced users.

BarcampTdot - Saturday May 13 and Sunday May 14

BarCamp is an ad-hoc un-conference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees.

This event is part of the TorCamp phenomenon, started last November. It's grown from about 50 at TorCamp 1 to over 140 at the last TorCamp DemoCamp.

All attendees must give a demo, a session, or help with one. All presentions are scheduled the day they happen. Prepare in advance, but come early to get a slot on the wall.

Creative Commons Salon Toronto - May 16

The first "CC Salon" in Toronto will feature conversation, mingling, drinks and some informal talks by Creative Commons luminaries. Bloggers, artists, LUGgers, musicians, wikitistas, and anyone else interested in Free Software, Open Source, Open Content and Creative Commons is welcome to come meet and mingle. Synchronized with but not affiliated to the Mesh Conference.

The salon will be at the Elephant and Castle Pub at 378 Yonge Street (upper level) from 7PM-9PM. More information at the CC Salon Toronto page at the Creative Commons wiki, and on the CC Canada blog post.

InstallFest at Seneca College on Saturday, the 3rd of June

We have them every semester but they're getting slow (I think we ran out of students to install for). I was wondering whether the GTALUG can help us get more clients :)

We will be installing SuSE 9.3 from CDs and DVDs (all copies of originals). Windows XP too if you really want it (why on earth would you), you'll need to get that activated yourself.

SuSE is not the only option, it's just the only one (that and my favourite Slackware) we can be sure to have CDs for. If you want fedora or whatever else just bring the media with you and we'll help you put it on.

Students will be doing the installations but that's a good thing, believe me. I should know, I am one of them :) We will have partition magic to shrink your windows partition and squeeze linux in. Of course shrinking partitions can be a sorry business so be sure to back up everything important before the big day.

You have to register so we know we can handle the number of people who show up.
