Seneca's status in her role as GTALUG archaeologist.

NOTE: The links to Google's cache of dissemble.net are all broken. It was a bad idea to link to such a temporary source instead of copying the text here. Some of the text is archived in archive.org but some is just gone. Missing messages might be found here: [1]

Old meetings

Over 75% of the old meetings (I counted 100 out of 132 when I entered this) are now in place.

  • Was there a talk about the MUA mulberry in July 2000, as is suggested by the following two messages? Update: dissemble.net and its tlug archives seem to have died. There is no mention of these pages on archive.org

The Creation of TLUG

I have found what appears to be the announcement for the first TLUG meeting and a usenet posting proposing the creation of a LUG in Toronto

Resources Used

  • Gmane's archive of the TLUG mailing list
  • archives of comp.os.linux.announce and tor.general
  • archived copies of old meetings pages and mailing list messages
  • TLUG-Announce messages on my system
  • the oldsite meetings listings

Resources Desired

  • an archive of TLUG-Announce that starts before March 2002
  • a complete 2000-2003 archive of the TLUG mailing list
  • pre-2000 archives of the TLUG mailing list
  • archives of the tlug.general newsgroup created back in 1994

Things to do

  • find and add more old meetings info to Historical:Meetings
  • upload and link to slides/presentation notes when how to handle them's been determined
  • look at major non-regular meeting events, like incorporation or Linux in the Park, in more detail

Recent events

  • Tue Apr 05, Sy Ali went to the 2005-04 meeting. On the way back he chatted with Drew about adding a wiki. Although he resisted being given root on the spot to do it himself, it only took a couple of weeks before the three of Sy, Bill Thanis and Drew Sullivan got the wiki up on Saturday April the 23rd, 2005. Within days it entirely overtook the main website.
  • Tue May 03 (Executive meetings:2005-05) the execs made a judgement call to finally rename TLUG to GTALUG, although issues of what to do with the mailing list rename. This meeting was hosted by the budding LinuxCafe.

upcoming events

  • organization of the first installfest in some time. -- it happened.
  • possibilities of linux in the park being revived. -- it happened.
  • a new meeting location
