TCP - Trademark Copyright & Patent Issues

~Fixme: Need an introduction.

Summaries

The more familiar I get with these issues, the more I'd like to see them dealt with. It was the motivation behind getting Richard Stallman's talk today on video. If a message is to spread effectively, it needs to spread accross the widest range of media possible. -- dl33t::talk 06:53, 18 May 2005 (EDT)

  1. One good resource is Matthew Skala's Report from Ottawa; Top 12 copyright reform issues. The document is a couple years old but is, for the most part, still applicable.
  2. Another is this amazing response I got from the same thread that yielded the above link. It's going to take more than a few days to prepare my own summary, so I'm duplicating and linking to it here. Hopefully to start a mindshare.  :-)
  • Unfortunately mindshare takes a while for a wiki, and especially for Canadians. =/ On the legal side of things, I know that http://www.infoanarchy.org/wiki/ has a bit of a legal side. to it. If you're ever bored, it may have some references for you to look into, and if you look closely.. you'll recognize my handywork from a while back. =) -- Sy / (talk) 21:27, 18 May 2005 (EDT)

Copyrights

If your concerned about any of the above, you might want to sign the Petition for Users' Rights. Who knows what will happen in the current political climate, but copyright reforms are/were scheduled to be tabled in parliament sometime in the next 6 weeks.

Software Patents

~Do: {{{1}}} Audio and video torrent trackers/links for RMS "Dangers of Software Patents" May 18th talk in Calgary.

There are some audio recordings on Software Patents (and lots of other stuff :-) at gnu.org here: http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/audio/
