Peter Hiscocks is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Ryerson Polytechnic University, where he uses Latex to produce volumes of technical notes that his students are required to read.
Description
Latex is a very useful document processing tool which works especially well in the Linux environment with other programs available under Linux. This lecture will introduce Latex and show how it is used to produce documents. The lecture will also show how other tools such as xv, xfig, dvips, xpaint, gnuplot, dvips, ps2pdf latex2html and sed can be used in conjuction with latex to form a versatile document processing system.
The lecture is intended to give an overview of the application, strengths and challenges of using Latex, together with pointers to more detailed information and tutorials for those who wish to use Latex.
