Tony Abou-Assaleh
Tony Abou-Assaleh is a a full-time Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science, Brock University, and a Ph.D. Candidate at Dalhousie University. He has a Master of Mathematics in Computer Science from University of Waterloo and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with first-class honours from Brock University. His research interests include probabilistic logic, unification-based grammars, natural language processing and question answering, machine learning, and detection of malicious code.
Tony is an active member of the GNU grep development team. Tony's first involvement with open source was in 1999 when he started the first Linux-based laboratory at Brock University. Tony is a Co-chair of the Conference on Engaging in Open Source (CEOS'06)

Description
What is grep? Why you should care? What 'flavours' of grep are out there? And how to use them?
Based on audience interest, I may talk about what regular expressions are, different flavours of regular expression, useability and efficiency considerations, and the expressive power of regular expressions.
