Introduction to the D-Bus System

Description
D-Bus is a relatively new and very flexible system for IPC being used by many popular applications in the OSS family. It is used by Gnome to listen to HAL for hardware changes, by Pidgen and Skype for connection information and more.
The talk will cover an introduction to D-Bus and will use Perl and it's Net::DBus to show example usage and code where needed. Examples will be given on building methods for export on the D-Bus message bus, message broadcasting and retrieval, using existing and dedicated message buses and more.

6:00 PM - There will be an informal get together of Linux fans at the Pho Hung restaurant 350 Spadina Ave. to talk about Linux related topics over Vietnamese style food.
7:30 PM - Meeting and presentation.
Late evening - After the presentation a large group of Linux fans will move to a nearby pub for further informal socializing.
