PostgreSQL
PostgreSQL is the world's most advanced open source database. Licensed under a BSD style license, and developed by a sizable distributed community of developers, its functionality is quite well described by the Wikipedia:PostgreSQL.
GTALUG has hosted a number of talks either directly about PostgreSQL (Meetings:2002-06, Meetings:2003-03, Meetings:2006-04, Meetings:2006-10) or more indirectly (Meetings:2004-09, Meetings:2007-04).
There is likely to be a PostgreSQL booth (see [[1] [organizational details]]) at OntarioLinuxFest
There are numerous commercial users and supporters of PostgreSQL around Toronto including:
- Afilias
- PostgreSQL International, represented by JDBC developer Dave Cramer
- Rod Taylor
- Darcy Cain
- Tenth Power
